Για να προσπαθ\u03aeσουμε να προσεγγ\u03afσουμε την σπουδαι\u03ccτητα της \u038aριδας δεν \u03adχουμε παρ\u03ac να παραθ\u03adσουμε κ\u03acποιες απ\u03cc τις δ\u03cdσκολες αποστολ\u03adς που της ανατ\u03adθηκαν και ας αφ\u03aeσουμε την φαντασ\u03afα μας να ταξιδε\u03cdει συνδ\u03adοντας τα απ\u03ccκρυφα β\u03acθη της μυθολογ\u03afας με τις ραγδα\u03afες εξελ\u03afξεις της σ\u03cdγχρονης επιστ\u03aeμης, ιδια\u03afτερα \u03ccσων αφορο\u03cdν στο σ\u03cdμπαν.<\/o:p><\/font><\/font><\/i><\/p>\n

Ε\u03afδαμε στο προηγο\u03cdμενο <\/span>post<\/span> <\/span>μια προτ\u03afμηση του Δ\u03afα να χρησιμοποιε\u03af την \u038aριδα αντ\u03af του Ερμ\u03ae στην μεταβ\u03afβαση μηνυμ\u03acτων που χρειαζ\u03ccντουσαν κ\u03acποια λεπτ\u03ccτητα \u03ae ιδια\u03afτερη μεταχε\u03afριση, \u03ae αν ο παραλ\u03aeπτης βρισκ\u03ccταν σε τ\u03ccπους δ\u03cdσκολους και επικ\u03afνδυνους.<\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

Στη «Θεογον\u03afα» του ο Ησ\u03afοδος \u03ccταν περιγρ\u03acφει τα \u03ccρια του σ\u03cdμπαντος, λ\u03adει πως εκε\u03af που τελει\u03ceνει ο κ\u03ccσμος και ανο\u03afγεται το «μ\u03adγα χ\u03acος», που το φοβο\u03cdνται ακ\u03ccμα και οι θεο\u03af, μ\u03ccνο η \u038aρις μπορε\u03af να πλησι\u03acσει για να παραδ\u03ceσει κ\u03acποιο μ\u03aeνυμα θε\u03ceν. <\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Επ\u03afσης \u03aeταν η μ\u03ccνη που πλησ\u03afαζε \u03acφοβα τα νερ\u03ac της Στυγ\u03ccς \u03ccπου ορκ\u03afζονταν οι θεο\u03af και \u03adκτυιαν την ποιν\u03ae τους \u03ccταν \u03aeταν τιμωρημ\u03adνοι.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Την \u038aριδα \u03adστειλε ο Δ\u03afας στη Δ\u03aeμητρα για να την καλ\u03adσει κοντ\u03ac του \u03ccταν αυτ\u03ae, οργισμ\u03adνη για την αρπαγ\u03ae της Κ\u03ccρης της απ\u03cc τον Πλο\u03cdτωνα, εξαφαν\u03afστηκε φε\u03cdγοντας μακρι\u03ac απ\u03cc τον \u038cλυμπο.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Την \u038aριδα \u03adστειλε και στον αγριεμ\u03adνο Ποσειδ\u03ceνα με την εντολ\u03ae να σταματ\u03aeσει τη μ\u03acχη με τους Τρ\u03ceες. Την \u038aριδα χρησιμοπο\u03afησε και π\u03acλι \u03ccταν \u03aeταν \u03adξω φρεν\u03ceν με την \u0389ρα και την Αθην\u03ac για την επ\u03adμβασ\u03ae τους στον Τρωικ\u03cc π\u03ccλεμο. Την \u03adστειλε με το απειλητικ\u03cc μ\u03aeνυμα προς τις δυο θε\u03adς, πως αν δεν σταματ\u03aeσουν την ανατροπ\u03ae των σχεδ\u03afων του με τη συμμετοχ\u03ae τους στον π\u03ccλεμο, θα τις γκρεμοτσ\u03acκιζε απ\u03cc τα \u03acρματ\u03ac τους.<\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The difficult missions of Iris<\/span><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Trying to approach the importance of Iris we can only quote some of the difficult assignments assigned to her and allow our imagination to travel by linking the hidden depths of mythology to the rapid developments of modern science, especially those about the universe.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We have seen in the previous post a preference of Zeus to use Iris instead of Hermes in the transmission of messages that needed some finesse or special treatment, or if the recipient was located in difficult and dangerous places.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In his "Theogony", Hesiod, describing the boundaries of the universe, states that where the world ends and the "great chaos" exists, of which even the gods were terrified, only Iris could approach that area to deliver a message of gods.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She<\/span> was also the only one approaching fearlessly the waters of Sty<\/span>x<\/span> where the gods swore and executed their punishment when they were punished.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Iris was the one sent by Zeus to Demeter to call her back near to him when she, angry for her daughter’s abduction by Pluto, vanished away from Mount Olympus.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Iris was sent, as well, to the furious Poseidon with the command to stop the battle with the Trojans. Iris was used once again when Zeus was outraged with Hera and Athena for their intervention in the Trojan War. He sent her with the threatening message to the two goddesses that if they did not stop the overturning of his plans by participating in the war, he would shred them from their chariots.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
