Discoveries of tombs of subsequent primitive people as the man of Cro – Magnon, with visible traces, confirmed these suspicions.
\nBut even today, modern primitive tribes of Africa, Asia and South America, tend to paint the faces of the dead especially with red designs, also using black and white colors as well.<\/span><\/p>\nThere is a large gap of centuries between now days and the people of Neanderthal and a huge cultural step between civilized people and the modern savages, but do not be surprised by this custom. Do not feel it like a custom of primitive humans only. It is a custom that we the civilized people still keep it today in the form of make-up of the dead. We put make up on our beloved dead persons to eliminate the pale green skin macabre connotations of death and give a look on our beloved dead "as if he is asleep”.
\nSo, from this very old human habit it is rather apparent that the first form of "art" on which man used dyes, was the art of makeup.
